How do you feel about Ben coming out again?

2 times may be a charm, but likely "it" could happen again...

I too, similar to Ben, have struggled with addiction during my adult life. I am a person in long term recovery which means to me that I have not used mind altering drugs or Alcohol since September 24, 2014. I don't know Ben personally, but if I saw him at a Recovery Meeting in San Diego, I would welcome him as I do with all new comers. We have a saying in Recovery....Tradition 11

Our public relations policy is based on attraction rather than promotion; we need always maintain personal anonymity at the level of press, radio and films.
Meaning....Our relations with the general public should be characterized by personal anonymity. We think A.A. ought to avoid sensational advertising. Our names and pictures as A.A. members ought not be broadcast, filmed or publicly printed. Our public relations should be guided by the principle of attraction rather than promotion. There is never need to praise ourselves. We feel it better to let our friends recommend us.
I believe there is a specific reason for this tradition while we move the problems and successes in arresting my disease....hope. You see, when I was first introduced to the world of recovery, I was looking for any sign that I COULD NOT MAKE the world of recovery my own. Now, while I don't know what Mr. Affleck's program consisted of during the 12 years between treatment, nor is it my business, what I do know is that anonymity (anna-nima-ty) takes "us and our disease" out of the spotlight and enhances our attraction to the program of recovery through our actions. Here is what the new comer is thinking:I know that this is the second time he going through a recovery program, what happened on the first time?
Did the first time work or was it a waste of time?
If he can't do it with all the money and fame he has, how am I supposed to make it?
I wonder if I should just wait and see how this try turns out?????????????????I believe that Ben can make a huge difference in many peoples lives by being open and honest about his recovery, both the successes and challenges this disease offers to us all, regardless of our standing in the community. This is why I keep coming back, to here truth about the first time....warm regards and thanks for fighting the fight Mr. Ben...Mark G

The actor, who previously went to rehab in 2001, said in a statement, "I want to live life to the fullest and be the best father."
Ben Affleck has recently completed a stint in rehab, the actor said Tuesday in a statement on Facebook.

"I have completed treatment for alcohol addiction; something I've dealt with in the past and will continue to confront," he wrote. "I want to live life to the fullest and be the best father I can be. I want my kids to know there is no shame in getting help when you need it, and to be a source of strength for anyone out there who needs help but is afraid to take the first step. I'm lucky to have the love of my family and friends, including my co-parent, Jen, who has supported me and cared for our kids as I've done the work I set out to do. This was the first of many steps being taken towards a positive recovery."

Affleck previously went to rehab in 2001.

"I went to rehab for being 29 and partying too much and not having a lot of boundaries and to clear my head and try to get some idea of who I wanted to be," Affleck said in a 2012 Hollywood Reporter cover story. "It was more a 'let me get myself straight,' before it became a rite of passage."

Affleck and wife Jennifer Garner, with whom he has three children, announced in 2015 that they were separating, but no divorce has been finalized. Affleck recently starred in and directed the Warner Bros. gangster film Live by Night, which was not well-received by critics and performed poorly at the box office. In January, he announced he would no longer be directing The Batman, in which he is set to reprise his role as the DC superhero.

"Performing this role demands focus, passion and the very best performance I can give. It has become clear that I cannot do both jobs to the level they require," Affleck said in a statement at the time. "Together with the studio, I have decided to find a partner in a director who will collaborate with me on this massive film. I am still in this, and we are making it, but we are currently looking for a director. I remain extremely committed to this project, and look forward to bringing this to life for fans around the world."

Matt Reeves has since stepped in to helm the Warner Bros. film. Affleck will appear as Bruce Wayne/Batman in November's Justice League, which has wrapped filming. No release date has been set for The Batman, which is also set to star Joe Manganiello as the villain Deathstroke.
