Intensive Outpatient Drug Rehab in San Diego (IOP)

It’s been very well established by studies conducted on recovering people that extending treatment as long as possible is directly connected with better long-term outcomes. The process of treatment, when done effectively, ingrains many new behaviors and responses in the person that they will use to navigate the stressors of life more effectively.

Present Moments Recovery personalizes each outpatient drug rehab treatment plan to the individual in our San Diego outpatient program. Treatment coordination and assistance with skill building, referrals for educational and occupational services, and continued sober living housing are a major part of our all-inclusive program.

If the individual transitions back into their career or if they are returning home without ongoing support, it is usually a matter of time before they relapse because of returning to familiar patterns and responses.

Securing Long-Term Sobriety with Outpatient Support

Extending sobriety after rehab through participation in an outpatient program makes it possible for the newly sober individual to continue having supervision, support, social integration and a smooth reintegration into society.

Outpatient Drug Rehab in San Diego County

Our San Diego outpatient programs (PHP, IOP, OP, and alumni support) are an extension of our residential program. Our entire continuum is CARF accredited for excellence. Clients continue to be supported by the same clinical and holistic team that they have grown comfortable with, removing the need to get to know a new therapist and keeping their feelings of safety and security intact.

In the outpatient programs, clients will dig deeper into their presenting problems, delving into the complex layers and underlying conditions of their substance use disorder. In addition to the education and clinical support, clients will receive a safe outlet to process real life occurrences, identify triggers in their daily routines, and learn coping skills to deal with 'life on life’s' terms.

How We Deliver Excellent Rehabilitation

The Outpatient Rehab Treatment Program Includes:

  • Individual psychotherapy
  • Drug and alcohol counseling
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
  • Motivational Interviewing
  • Expressive Therapies: Art Therapy, Music Therapy, and Journaling
  • Individual Therapy Sessions
  • Dialectical Behavioral Therapy
  • Group Therapy
  • Somatic Therapies: Mindfulness and Qigong
  • Holistic Processes: Yoga, Meditation, Physical Fitness, Acupuncture and Nutrition

We utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, DBT, Motivational Interviewing, Coping Skills training, and a variety of other didactic and process therapies to help individuals who have already finished a formal inpatient rehabilitation program or residential treatment rehab program, are currently sober, and need the continuation of outpatient care.

Each participant is provided the continued clinical outpatient services, care and support that is recommended for after-care. We provide core programming daily with our outpatient therapists and intensive outpatient treatment programs. Our medical director is an addiction physician who oversees medication assisted treatment (MAT) maintenance drugs (like Suboxone and Vivitrol) that are sometimes prescribed for those in recovery – these meds can be a tremendous help in reducing craving, but it is vital that they are under the strict control of a medical professional. Our goal is to help individuals move through the stages of change and move from early recovery, into long-term recovery of living a more productive life, while adhering to personal goals and needs in the recovery process.

Intensive outpatient rehab programs or IOP help during the transition from drug and alcohol rehab back to society and family. The object is to have the social support of individuals sharing recovery with similar circumstances while being supported by drug or alcohol counselors, psychologists, or doctors.

Many times, not everyone requires detox or inpatient rehab to begin their journey. They may simply need the extension of support via groups to extend their sobriety as in intensive outpatient rehab.

Present Moments Recovery’s Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is for people who require a lower level of care than residential addiction treatment, but still requiring weekly therapy services supporting sobriety. The treatment center is near the beaches of Carlsbad, California, in San Diego County. The program allows clients to be able to participate in daily activities, such as work or school, and then attend treatment either during the day or evening program. Clients participate in group therapy sessions, as well as individual sessions with the assigned counselors. Clients are also provided case management, treatment planning, and discharge and aftercare planning.

Dual Diagnosis Outpatient Drug Treatment in San Diego

In the case of dual diagnosis, Present Moments Recovery  provides mental health support as well. Sober housing is common during outpatient programs for alcohol and drug addiction. These sober living homes are monitored as well as drug tested while many attend group therapy in phase system as needed in the transition. These alcohol and drug-free environments are known as sober living or recovery homes. At Present Moments’  outpatient rehab in San Diego, we recommend sober living for those attending IOP or intensive outpatient programs in order to create a safe and cohesive ambiance.
