About PMR
Our Story & Mission
Present Moments Recovery was built by people who understand addiction from both sides of the door, lived experience and professional clinical care.
How it began
The seed for Present Moments Recovery was planted in 2012, when Amy Gladden began imagining a different kind of treatment program, one where families were treated as part of the work, not an afterthought, and where the same team stayed with a person from the very first call all the way through recovery.
Present Moments Recovery formally opened its doors in 2014, and welcomed its first client in 2015. From the start, the goal was never to be the biggest program in North County San Diego, it was to be the one that families could actually trust.
Mark Gladden's own long-term recovery is part of the foundation of PMR. It shapes how we answer the phone, how we talk to families, and how we never lose sight of the human being behind the diagnosis, but the program was always built around clinical quality, not one person's story.
The name
Why we are called Present Moments Recovery
“Present Moments Recovery, because recovery can only happen in the present moment.”
Our mission
Our mission is to walk with adults and families through every stage of recovery, detox, residential, outpatient, MAT when appropriate, sober living coordination, and aftercare, with one connected clinical team. We believe help should feel human first. Families who call us should leave the very first conversation feeling heard, less afraid, and clearer about the next right step.
The founders
Mark and Amy Gladden lead PMR together.

You do not have to figure this out alone.
Our first step is helping your family understand what may be needed now, and what support comes next. No pressure, just a conversation.
