What happens when I call?

You reach a real person, often Mark Gladden, a co-founder who is in long-term recovery. Our first calls run 8 to 30 minutes because we listen first. We'll ask what's been happening, answer your questions honestly, and help you understand what the next right step could look like. No pressure, just a conversation.

What if my loved one doesn't want help yet?

That's common, and it doesn't mean you're out of options. Sometimes a calm, structured family conversation, and occasionally a professional intervention, becomes the turning point. We can talk through what's realistic for your family and connect you with intervention support when it makes sense.

Do I have to know which level of care we need before I call?

Accepted Answer

No. Figuring that out is our job, not yours. We'll help you understand what may be needed now and what support comes next.

What insurance do you accept?

Accepted Answer

We're in-network with Blue Cross Blue Shield of California, Anthem Blue Cross, TriCare, TriWest, and Cigna/Evernorth, and we work with most PPO and POS plans. We may be able to work with many Aetna PPO and POS plans on an out-of-network basis, depending on benefits and authorization. Self-pay options may also be available. The fastest way to know what's covered is to verify your benefits.

How much does treatment cost?

Cost depends on your coverage and the level of care that fits. We verify your benefits, explain what insurance may cover, and walk through any estimated out-of-pocket responsibility as clearly as we can. Treatment has real costs, but families should never feel pressured, surprised, or left alone trying to figure it out.

Do you accept Medi-Cal or Medicare?

We do not accept Medi-Cal or Medicare. We can point you toward trusted referral partners in the community if that's the right fit, and there are limited situations where we can help coordinate medication. Just ask and we'll help you find the right resource.

Will verifying my insurance commit me to anything?

Accepted Answer

No. Verifying your benefits is just an information check, it doesn't obligate you to enroll in treatment.

Question 8

What is your Continuity of Care model?

Accepted Answer

The same clinical team walks with you from your first call through each stage of recovery, detox, residential, outpatient, MAT when appropriate, sober living coordination, and aftercare. You don't start over or re-tell your story to a new team at every step.

What does a typical day in treatment look like?

Days are built around individual therapy, group work, and practical skills, methods like DBT, CBT, and motivational interviewing. Because we stay intentionally small, care is genuinely individualized rather than assembly-line.

Is Present Moments Recovery a 12-step program?

Accepted Answer

We're a clinically based treatment program, not a 12-step-based clinical program. We may introduce clients to 12-step meetings, faith-based recovery, and other peer-support options because long-term recovery often requires connection after treatment, but our clinical work is built around evidence-based methods.

Question 11

Do you offer Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT)?

Yes, when it's clinically appropriate. MAT is one part of a broader clinical program, not a stand-alone solution. We may support physician-prescribed medications such as buprenorphine/Suboxone when appropriate, but we do not provide methadone treatment on site.

How are families involved in treatment?

Addiction affects the whole family system, so recovery works best when families are part of it. Family therapy helps rebuild communication, understand long-standing patterns, and learn how to support recovery without losing yourself in it.

What if my loved one relapses?

Accepted Answer

For some people, relapse is part of the recovery journey, not a failure or a choice. When clients relapse, the greatest compliment to us is that they don't feel ashamed to reach out and come back in, pick up where they left off, and develop next steps.

Do you treat veterans?

Yes. We're veteran-owned and in-network with TriCare and TriWest, with care that's informed by military experience.
