The gentlest step down, with support still close by
By the time someone reaches Outpatient Level 1, the early crisis is usually behind them. Detox is done, the intensive weeks of PHP and IOP have done their work, and life is filling back in with a job, a family, a routine. What people need at this stage is not more hours in a treatment room. It is a steady, low-intensity connection that keeps recovery from quietly slipping to the bottom of the list.

Learn moreWhat Outpatient Level 1 involves
Outpatient Level 1 is about four hours of care a week: one three-hour recovery group plus a one-hour individual therapy session. The group is the same evening recovery group other outpatient clients attend, so people stay connected to a community they already know rather than starting over with strangers. The individual hour is where the personal work continues, on the specific stressors and goals that matter for that person.
- About four hours of clinical support a week
- One three-hour evening recovery group
- One hour of individual therapy
- Built to fit around work, school, and family
Who it's for
Outpatient Level 1 fits people who have moved through more intensive care and are ready to carry more of daily life on their own, but who know that a clean break from all support is risky. It is a deliberate step down, not a finish line, and for many people it runs alongside structured sober living or an alumni community so the safety net stays in place.
Where it fits in the continuum
We built Outpatient Level 1 so that support could taper as stability grows, never all at once. Most people arrive here after IOP, and many keep their connection to aftercare and alumni once they finish. The whole point of our continuity-of-care approach is that no one falls off a cliff between levels, and this is the gentlest part of that descent.
“The beauty of our Continuum of Care model is a consistent treatment team from the beginning of the journey until the client is ready to fly solo. Clients are able to establish trust with their primary counselor, while the team supports them from the first day of care through their transition into the next appropriate stage of recovery.”

Frequently asked questions
How is Outpatient Level 1 different from IOP?
IOP is about nine hours a week across several evening groups, while Outpatient Level 1 is about four hours a week, one recovery group plus an individual session. Level 1 is the lighter step most people move to after IOP, not a replacement for it.
Can I work full time while in Outpatient Level 1?
Yes. Outpatient Level 1 is designed around real life. The group meets in the evening and there is only one additional individual hour, so most people attend while working, studying, or caring for family.
How many hours a week is Outpatient Level 1?
It is about four hours of care a week: one three-hour evening recovery group plus a one-hour individual therapy session. That lighter schedule keeps recovery support in your life without taking over your week.
Who is Outpatient Level 1 a good fit for?
It fits people who have moved through more intensive care, like PHP or IOP, and are ready to carry more of daily life on their own but know a clean break from all support is risky. It is a deliberate step down, not a finish line. For many people it runs alongside structured sober living or an alumni community so the safety net stays in place.
Is the recovery group the same one other outpatient clients attend?
Yes. The three-hour evening group is the same recovery group other outpatient clients attend, so you stay connected to a community you already know rather than starting over with strangers. The individual hour is where the more personal work continues on your specific stressors and goals.
