What Should I Bring to Rehab?

Entering treatment raises a lot of questions, and packing is a common one. Here is a simple guide so day one feels calm.

Arrive with the basics, settle in, and focus on healing

We want clients to feel as comfortable as possible on arrival. Bringing familiar personal items can ease anxiety and make the transition into treatment smoother. The goal is a safe, supportive environment focused on recovery, so the packing guidance below is meant to make your first day feel calm rather than complicated.

Clothing to bring

Bring comfortable clothing for your stay. Because laundry facilities are available, you only need about 5 to 7 days of clothing that you can wash and reuse. Comfortable clothes are best for daily activities, including therapy, group meetings, and rest.

  • Comfortable shirts and pants
  • Casual clothing for daily wear
  • Pajamas or sleepwear
  • Undergarments and socks
  • Comfortable shoes
  • Light workout or lounge clothing

Personal items that help you feel at home

Treatment can feel unfamiliar at first, so a few comfort items help. Many clients bring family photos for their bedside, pictures of children or loved ones, a familiar alarm clock, and small personal items. These can provide connection and stability during the early days.

Toiletries and personal care

You may bring your own toiletries and hygiene products. For safety, all toiletries must be new and unopened on arrival, and opened items may need to be replaced. Common items include a toothbrush and toothpaste, shampoo and conditioner, deodorant, soap or body wash, shaving supplies, and personal hygiene products.

Tobacco and vaping products

Present Moments Recovery allows smoking and vaping. Any tobacco or vaping products must be brand new, unopened, and sealed. If these products are opened before arrival, you may need to purchase new ones with staff assistance after admission.

Items that can come later, and delivery guidelines

If you forget something, loved ones can drop off items at the residence, and staff inspect all incoming items for safety. To keep the environment safe and structured, clients cannot order items directly from online retailers; family members may bring or send items instead, and all packages are opened and inspected by staff before being given to clients.

You do not need to bring everything on day one

Many clients arrive with just the basics and settle in comfortably within a few days. If you are unsure whether a specific item is allowed, call or text us at (619) 363-4767 before arrival and we will tell you plainly.
